CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

Apologizing for the enslavement and racial segregation of African-Americans.

Whereas, during the history of the Nation, the United States has grown into a symbol of democracy and freedom around the world;

Whereas the legacy of African-Americans is interwoven with the very fabric of the democracy and freedom of the United States;

Whereas millions of Africans and their descendants were enslaved in the United States and the 13 American colonies from 1619 through 1865;

Whereas Africans forced into slavery were brutalized, humiliated, dehumanized, and subjected to the indignity of being stripped of their names and heritage;

Whereas many enslaved families were torn apart after family members were sold separately;

Whereas the system of slavery and the visceral racism against people of African descent upon which it depended became enmeshed in the social fabric of the United States;

Whereas slavery was not officially abolished until the ratification of the 13th amendment to the Constitution of the United States in 1865, after the end of the Civil War;

Whereas after emancipation from 246 years of slavery, African-Americans soon saw the fleeting political, social, and economic gains they made during Reconstruction eviscerated by virulent racism, lynchings, disenfranchisement, Black Codes, and racial segregation laws that imposed a rigid system of officially sanctioned racial segregation in virtually all areas of life;

Whereas the system of de jure racial segregation known as “Jim Crow”, which arose in certain parts of the United States after the Civil War to create separate and unequal societies for Whites and African-Americans, was a direct result of the racism against people of African descent that was engendered by slavery;

Whereas the system of Jim Crow laws officially existed until the 1960s–a century after the official end of slavery in the United States–until Congress took action to end it, but the vestiges of Jim Crow continue to this day;

Whereas African-Americans continue to suffer from the consequences of slavery and Jim Crow laws–long after both systems were formally abolished–through enormous damage and loss, both tangible and intangible, including the loss of human dignity and liberty;

Whereas the story of the enslavement and de jure segregation of African-Americans and the dehumanizing atrocities committed against them should not be purged from or minimized in the telling of the history of the United States;

Whereas those African-Americans who suffered under slavery and Jim Crow laws, and their descendants, exemplify the strength of the human character and provide a model of courage, commitment, and perseverance;

Whereas, on July 8, 2003, during a trip to Goree Island, Senegal, a former slave port, President George W. Bush acknowledged the continuing legacy of slavery in life in the United States and the need to confront that legacy, when he stated that slavery “was . . . one of the greatest crimes of history . . . The racial bigotry fed by slavery did not end with slavery or with segregation. And many of the issues that still trouble America have roots in the bitter experience of other times. But however long the journey, our destiny is set: liberty and justice for all.”;

Whereas President Bill Clinton also acknowledged the deep-seated problems caused by the continuing legacy of racism against African-Americans that began with slavery, when he initiated a national dialogue about race;

Whereas an apology for centuries of brutal dehumanization and injustices cannot erase the past, but confession of the wrongs committed and a formal apology to African-Americans will help bind the wounds of the Nation that are rooted in slavery and can speed racial healing and reconciliation and help the people of the United States understand the past and honor the history of all people of the United States;

Whereas the legislatures of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the States of Alabama, Florida, Maryland, and North Carolina have taken the lead in adopting resolutions officially expressing appropriate remorse for slavery, and other State legislatures are considering similar resolutions; and

Whereas it is important for the people of the United States, who legally recognized slavery through the Constitution and the laws of the United States, to make a formal apology for slavery and for its successor, Jim Crow, so they can move forward and seek reconciliation, justice, and harmony for all people of the United States: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate (the House of Representatives concurring),

That the sense of the Congress is the following:

(1) Apology for the enslavement and segregation of african-americans. –The Congress–

(A) acknowledges the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery and Jim Crow laws;

(B) apologizes to African-Americans on behalf of the people of the United States, for the wrongs committed against them and their ancestors who suffered under slavery and Jim Crow laws; and

(C) expresses its recommitment to the principle that all people are created equal and endowed with inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and calls on all people of the United States to work toward eliminating racial prejudices, injustices, and discrimination from our society.

(2) Disclaimer.- -Nothing in this resolution–

(A) authorizes or supports any claim against the United States; or

(B) serves as a settlement of any claim against the United States.

OMAR BONGO PRESIDENT OF GABON HAS DIED OUR GOOD FRIEND

REUTERS – Gabon’s President Omar Bongo has died after 41 years in power in the central African country, French media said on Sunday, but the country’s prime minister said he was unable to confirm the reports.

The 73-year-old checked into a clinic in Spain last month amid reports that he was suffering from cancer, fuelling speculation over the future of the former French colony, which has a well established oil industry.

There was no immediate comment from the hospital on Sunday.

Quoting a source close to Bongo’s entourage, the website of French magazine Le Point reported on Sunday that Bongo had died.

But Gabon’s Prime Minister Jean Eyeghe Ndong said he was surprised by the French media reports. "If such a situation happens, I think and I know that the family of President Bongo would naturally inform me. This is not the case at the moment I am talking to you," Ndong told Gabonese television on Sunday evening.

Concerns over the health of Africa’s longest-serving ruler intensified last month after he suspended his functions as head of the oil-producing state for the first time since taking power in 1967.

But Gabon’s government said last month Bongo was resting in Spain after the death of his wife in March and that he would return home to resume his functions as head of state.

Reports that Bongo was ill had fuelled debates over who would take over and speculation there might be turmoil, as in Togo when long-time President Gnassingbe Eyadema died in 2005.

But Eurasia Group Middle East and Africa analyst Sebastian Spio-Garbrah says the fears are unfounded and Bongo’s son, Defence Minister Ali Ben Bongo, was likely to take over.

"Despite widespread foreign investor worries … an orderly secession managed by the ruling Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG) will install Bongo’s well-respected son … or another close family member, to the presidency and avoid any messy succession crisis," he wrote in a research note last month.

In the event of the president’s death, the constitution calls for Senate President Rose Francine Rogombe, a PDG ally, to step in as caretaker leader in charge of organising elections.

The prospect of turmoil in the case of the president’s death has also been reduced by Bongo’s long-term successes of minimising ethnic tensions in the country, analysts say.

Bongo nurtured close ties with former colonial power France, whose Total SA oil giant is one of the biggest investors in the country.

It was meant to be simple. With the possibility to hide information where only the person you need to see it can, without  revealing one self unless you want.

You can author any document, video, links or other ,  you own or create or not.

You can post as many infolops as you like. each posting is like a web site to the poster or user. Blogs, answers, all came after knowledgecash touching on the concept.

At Knowledgecash.com the data base is small but not repeating over and over as other search engines do, leaving you in a sea of the same,  to drown in and leave you wandering wander what you can really believe.

SOCIAL SECURITY CHANGES THIS IS A PETITION NATION WIDE

SOCIAL SECURITY CHANGES

It does not matter if you personally like or dislike Obama.  You need to sign this petition and flood his e-mail box with e-mails that tell him that, even if the House passes this bill, he needs to veto it.  It is already impossible to live on Social Security alone.  If the government gives benefits to ‘illegal’ aliens who have never contributed, where does that leave those of us who have paid into Social Security all our working lives?

As stated below, the Senate voted this week to allow ‘illegal’ aliens access to Social Security benefits.
Attached is an opportunity to sign a petition that requires citizenship for eligibility to that social service.

Instructions are below.  If you don’t forward the petition and just stop it, we will lose all these names.

If you do not want to sign it, please just forward it to everyone you know.

Thank you!

To add your name, click on ‘forward’.  Address it to all of your email correspondents, add your name to the list and send it on.

When the petition hits 1,000, send it to comment@whitehouse.gov

PETITION for President Obama:

Dear Mr. President:
We, the undersigned, protest the bill that the Senate voted on recently which would allow illegal aliens to access our Social Security..  We demand that you and all Congressional representatives require citizenship as a pre-requisite for social services in the United States.

We further demand that there not be any amnesty give n to illegal aliens, NO free20services, no funding, no payments to and for illegal immigrants

Members of the Brazilian Air Force carry a body recovered from the Atlantic AP – Members of the Brazilian Air Force carry a body recovered from the Atlantic ocean by the Brazilian Navy …

RECIFE, Brazil – Air France and other airlines moved Tuesday to replace speed monitors suspected of feeding false information to the computers of Flight 447 and leading to a series of failures that broke the plane apart over the Atlantic Ocean. Four more bodies were pulled from the sea, and helicopters began ferrying other remains to shore.

A total of 28 bodies have been recovered; 200 others have yet to be found. Soldiers and medical personnel in surgical gowns carried off the remains in body bags on the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, to be flown to the coastal city of Recife, where experts will try to identify them using DNA and photos.

Identifying the bodies, looking at where they were seated on the plane and studying their injuries could provide clues to causes of the May 31 disaster, according to Peter Goelz, a former managing director of the National Transportation Safety Board.

Interpol, meanwhile, sent an agent to Paris to coordinate the identification work by a French team, which is using forensic evidence including fingerprints, tattoos and dental records.

"Since the victims from this tragedy came from all parts of the globe, international collaboration will be essential," Interpol Secretary General Ronald K. Noble said.

With the plane’s data recorders still apparently deep in the ocean, investigators have been focusing on the possibility that external speed monitors — called Pitot tubes — iced over and gave false readings to the plane’s computers in a thunderstorm.

The L-shaped metal tubes jut from the wing or fuselage of a plane, and are heated to prevent icing. The pressure of air entering the tubes lets sensors measure the speed and angle of flight. A malfunctioning Pitot tube could mislead computers controlling the plane to dangerously accelerate or decelerate.

Air France said it began replacing the Pitot tubes on its A330 and A340 jets in May after pilots reported several incidents of icing leading to a loss of airspeed data, and that it had already replaced the Pitots in smaller A320 jets after similar problems were reported.

"What we know is that other planes that have experienced incorrect airspeed indications have had the same Pitots. And airplanes with the new Pitot tubes have never had such problems," said Air France pilot Eric Derivry, a spokesman for the SNPL pilots union.

While no cause has been established for the disaster, Derivry said the Pitot failures create "a web of presumptions, but only presumptions," that they "could be a contributing factor."

The monitors had not yet been replaced on the A330 that was destroyed en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.

On Tuesday, the airline assured its pilots that none of its A330s or A340s would fly without at least two of the new instruments, and that all Air France A330s and A340s will have all three Pitots replaced by July.

Brazil’s air force, meanwhile, said it is replacing the Pitot tubes on an Airbus A319 used by Brazil’s president because of a recommendation the jet’s manufacturer made more than a month before the Air France crash.

A memo sent to Air France pilots Monday by its smaller Alter union and obtained by The Associated Press urged them not to fly unless at least two of the three Pitot sensors on each plane had been replaced, citing a "strong presumption" among its pilot members that a Pitot problem precipitated the crash.

The union’s memo also warned of a "real risk of loss of control" due to Pitot problems. But other pilots have said that the planes should remain flyable even if Pitot tubes ice over in thunderstorms. And the European Aviation Safety Agency issued a precautionary safety bulletin Tuesday reminding operators about existing procedures to safely fly the aircraft even when air speed indicators malfunction.

"We are aware of issues with this in the past, but at no time were they classified as safety-critical, neither by the authorities nor by the manufacturer," said Daniel Hoeltgen, the agency’s spokesman.

Two companies manufacture the Pitot monitors for the A330 planes — France’s Thales Group and Charlotte, North Carolina-based Goodrich Corp.

Thales made the Pitot tubes on the jet that crashed, company spokeswoman Caroline Philips confirmed.

Some other carriers — including Delta Air Lines Inc. and the Middle East’s Qatar Airways — said they are working to upgrade the devices on dozens of Airbus planes, and are warning pilots in the meantime.

"Until these installations are complete, we are communicating with our flight crews to reiterate the correct procedures to be used in the event of unreliable airspeed indications," Delta spokeswoman Betsy Talton said.

Delta subsidiary Northwest Airlines also has installed new Pitot tubes on its A319/320 aircraft, Talton said.

And US Airways has begun replacing the Pitot tube component on its A330s out of an abundance of caution, spokeswoman Michelle Mohr said, though she declined to identify the manufacturer.

Some other major Airbus operators suggested Tuesday that the problem was isolated to Thales instruments, stressing that their aircraft use the Goodrich model and had no problems related to icing or loss of data. Executives at Dubai-based Emirates Airlines, Abu-Dhabi-based Either Airways and Qantas Airways were among those making this point.

"We are not concerned because its a different system in our aircraft," Qantas General Manager for Government and Corporate Affairs David Epstein said.

Airline industry officials also rallied to defend Airbus. At an industry conference in Kuala Lumpur, Emirates Airlines President Tim Clark said the Dubai-based company’s 29 A330-200 planes have been flying since 1998 "and there is absolutely no reason why there should be any question over this plane. It is one of the best flying today."

Brazil’s air force said search crews had recovered the vertical stabilizer from the tail section of Flight 447 — which also could provide key clues as to why the airliner went down and where best to search for the black boxes, which are located in the fuselage near the tail.

From images of the recovered tail section, the damage looks like a lateral fracture, said William Waldock, who teaches air crash investigation at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona.

"That would reinforce the idea that the plane broke up in flight," Waldock said. "If it hits intact, everything shatters in tiny pieces."

Goelz said the faulty airspeed readings and the fact that the vertical stabilizer was sheared from the jet could be related.

The Airbus A330-200 has a "rudder limiter" which restricts the movement of the rudder — another part of the tail section — at high speeds. If it were to move too far while traveling fast, it could shear off and take the vertical stabilizer with it.

"If you had a wrong speed being fed to the computer by the Pitot tube, it might allow the rudder to over-travel," Goelz said.

Asked if the rudder or stabilizer being sheared off could have brought the jet down, Goelz said: "Absolutely. You need a rudder. And you need the (rudder) limiter on there to make sure the rudder doesn’t get torn off or cause havoc with the plane’s aerodynamics."

With the discovery of debris and bodies 45 miles (70 kilometers) from where the jet was last heard from, searchers are narrowing their hunt for the cockpit voice and flight data recorders. They must move quickly — acoustic beacons or "pingers" on the black boxes begin to fade 30 days after crashes.

The U.S. Navy is providing devices capable of picking up the pingers to a depth of 20,000 feet (6,100 meters) that will be slowly towed in a grid pattern across the search area. The French nuclear attack submarine Emeraude, arriving later this week, also will try to find the acoustic pings.

France, Brazil and the Pentagon have said there are no signs that terrorism was involved in the crash.

Air France says it’s replacing flight instruments

RECIFE, Brazil – An Air France memo to its pilots Friday about the crash of Flight 447 said the airline is replacing instruments that help measure airspeed on all its medium- and long-haul Airbus jets.

Investigators have focused on incorrect speed readings as one potential factor in the crash.

With Brazil and France disagreeing about whether pieces of the jet have even been found in the Atlantic, investigators are using the last messages sent by the plane to determine the cause and try to avoid future disasters.

Air France declined to comment on the memo obtained by The Associated Press, saying it was for pilots only.

Airbus said the matter was part of the investigation into the crash that killed 228 people flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris Sunday. The Bureau of Investigation and Analysis, which is leading the French probe of the crash, said it would address all questions at a Saturday news conference.

The memo sent Friday said Air France has been replacing instruments known as Pitot tubes and will finish in "coming weeks." It does not say when the replacement process started.

The plane’s "black boxes" may be miles below the surface and investigators are looking for clues in the messages sent from the plane’s computers just before it disappeared. One theory: the outside probes that feed speed sensors may have iced over, giving incorrect information to the plane’s computers. The autopilot may have then directed the plane to fly too fast or too slow when it met turbulence from towering thunderstorms.

Airbus sent an advisory to airlines late Thursday reminding them how to handle the A330 in similar conditions.

The memo sent by Air France Friday says that a series of actions to reduce the risks of loss of airspeed information are being reinforced by "notably, the improvement of pitot models on Airbus’ fleet of medium- and long-haul flights."

"On this topic, a program of replacing pitots with new models is under way," the memo reads. "It should be completed in coming weeks."

Pitot tubes are L-shaped metal tubes — about eight inches (20 centimeters) long on their longer side — that protrude from the wing or fuselage of a plane. The pressure of the air entering the tube lets sensors measure the speed and angle of the flight, along with less vital information like outside air temperature.

They are heated to prevent icing.

A blocked or malfunctioning Pitot tube could cause an airspeed sensor to work incorrectly and cause the computer controlling the plane to accelerate or decelerate in a potentially dangerous fashion.

Airbus said the French agency investigating the crash found that the doomed flight had faced turbulent weather and inconsistency in the speed readings by different instruments.

That meant "the measured air speed of the aircraft was unclear," Justin Dubon said.

In such circumstances, flight crews should maintain thrust and pitch and — if necessary — level off the plane and start troubleshooting, Dubon said.

Meteorologists said the Air France jet entered an unusual storm with 100 mph (160 kph) updrafts that acted as a vacuum, sucking water up from the ocean. The moist air rushed up to the plane’s high altitude, where it quickly froze in minus-40 degree temperatures. The updrafts also would have created dangerous turbulence.

The jetliner’s computer systems ultimately failed, and the plane likely broke apart in midair.

Brazilian officials have insisted for three days that military pilots have spotted wreckage from Flight 447 scattered across the ocean’s surface. Air Force Brig. Gen. Ramon Cardoso again expressed confidence Friday that at least some of the objects — an airplane seat, a slick of kerosene and other pieces — are from the plane that vanished Sunday with 228 people on board.

"This is the material that we’ve seen that really was part of the plane," Cardoso said.

But ships guided by planes in the search area have been hampered by extremely poor visibility, and have recovered no wreckage. "We don’t have any information yet that any of the ships are near any of the objects," Cardoso said.

The only piece retrieved so far, a cargo pallet, turned out to be sea garbage. Like other suspicious objects, it had to be hauled up and checked out, said Brazilian Navy Adm. Edson Lawrence.

French officials stopped short of criticizing their Brazilian counterparts, but France’s Transportation Minister Dominique Bussereau said his own country’s searchers have found no signs of the Airbus A330.

"French authorities have been saying for several days that we have to be extremely prudent," Bussereau told France’s RTL radio. "Our planes and naval ships have seen nothing."

A French Defense Ministry official, speaking only on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, also questioned the Brazilian claims, saying French teams "cannot precisely confirm the zone where the plane went down."

Cardoso also said a large oil slick spotted by search plane pilots was not from the Airbus, but that authorities believe another slick of kerosene was probably from the downed passenger jet.

France is sending a submarine to the zone where the plane is thought to have gone down to detect signals from the two black boxes, said military spokesman Christophe Prazuck. The Emeraude, already in the Atlantic, will arrive next week, he said. The vessel, which can dive up to 980 feet (300 meters) is to be used to help try to detect the signals noises from the boxes — believed to be up to 13,100 feet (4,000 meters) underwater. It will try to capture the acoustic signals, which can last 30 days, Prazuck said.

The Pentagon has said there are no signs terrorism was involved. Brazil’s defense minister said the possibility was never considered. French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner agreed that there is no evidence supporting a "terrorism theory," but said "we cannot discard that for now."

Brazil’s Air Force was flying relatives of victims to the search command post in the northeastern city of Recife Friday to tour the operation and ask questions. Recife has a large air force base where debris and any human remains would be brought.

Several veteran pilots of big airliners said it was extremely unlikely that Flight 447’s crew intended to punch through a killer storm.

"Nobody in their right mind would ever go through a thunderstorm," said Tim Meldahl, a captain for a major U.S. airline who has flown internationally for 26 years, including more than 3,000 hours on the same A330 jetliner.

Debris confirms crash of Air France Flight 447

FERNANDO DE NORONHA, Brazil – An airplane seat, a fuel slick and pieces of white debris scattered over three miles of open ocean marked the site in the mid-Atlantic Tuesday where Air France Flight 447 plunged to its doom, Brazil’s defense minister said.

Brazilian military pilots spotted the wreckage, sad reminders bobbing on waves, in the ocean 400 miles northeast of these islands off Brazil’s coast. The plane carrying 228 people vanished Sunday about four hours into its flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.

"I can confirm that the five kilometers of debris are those of the Air France plane," Defense Minister Nelson Jobim told reporters at a hushed press conference in Rio. He said

Welcome to our Rapid Blog!

Thank you for reading the first entry to my new blogging account! I registered this blog through Name.com’s Rapid Blog product. This feature is user friendly and perfect for all bloggers, beginner to expert. Rapid Blog is a centrally managed WordPress.org installation. WordPress.org is the most popular blogging software today, and offers state-of-the-art publishing platforms. Not only is it used by bloggers across the world, but it is incredibly simple to use. By using Rapid Blog through Name.com, the price was right, the setup was quick and easy, and Name.com automatically upgrades my blogging software for me! I never have to install, configure or manage the actual WordPress software, just my content – blog posts, images, videos, etc. Changing this blog, or any other posted blog is simple and user-friendly. I just need to click on ‘Getting Started’ under ‘Blogroll’ to the right of the screen. Then I just simply log into my blog account that I set up at Name.com. Then I just have to click on ‘Edit’ under ‘Posts’, and start blogging. Once I hit ‘Update Post’, the world is welcome to read my blog. Let’s start blogging!
